An Eden Prairie Homeowner’s Guide to Year-Round Property Care

Eden Prairie is home for Eminence Services. The company started here in 2023, our founder Ryan Bickett lives here, and our service area reaches about 15 miles out from town. So this guide is a little personal.

It covers Eden Prairie property care through the year, the city rules worth knowing, and where we can help.

What makes Eden Prairie yards different

Eden Prairie grew quickly from the 1970s on, and many homes sit on generous lots with mature trees, slopes, and plenty of lawn. With Purgatory Creek, Staring Lake, and the lakes and wetlands around town, a lot of yards drain toward water. That is one more reason to be careful with fertilizer and salt.

Mature trees are great for shade and privacy. They also mean heavy leaf drop, full gutters, and more cleanup after storms. Hilly lots make mowing and snow clearing slower than flat ground does. None of that is a problem, but it is worth planning for.

Watering rules in Eden Prairie

Eden Prairie’s watering rules apply all year, not just in summer.

  • If your address ends in an odd number, water on odd numbered days. Even addresses water on even days.
  • No lawn watering from noon to 5 p.m.
  • Fines start at $25 and climb with repeat violations, and the city doesn’t give warnings first.

Putting in new sod or seed? You can apply for a one-time, 30 day exemption from the odd and even schedule. The noon to 5 p.m. ban still applies. The details are on the city’s lawn watering page.

A sprinkler timer set to run early in the morning on your days is the easiest way to stay within the rules and get the most out of every gallon.

Spring and fall cleanup

With this many trees, fall cleanup is the big one. Leaves left on the lawn over winter smother the grass and lead to snow mold in spring. Gutters fill up in October and November, and clogged gutters are a common starting point for ice dams later in the winter.

In Hennepin County it is illegal to put yard waste in the garbage. Leaves and brush go to your hauler’s yard waste pickup in compostable bags, or to a yard waste site.

For the timing of each lawn job, see our Minnesota lawn care calendar.

Keeping the outside clean

Sprinklers, pollen, and spring rain all leave their mark on windows and siding. A house wash once a year keeps siding looking good and helps it last. Window cleaning in spring and fall works for most homes. Hard water spots from sprinklers come off much more easily when they are cleaned regularly instead of left to bake on.

Winter in Eden Prairie

Winter takes a little teamwork with the city.

  • Keep snow out of the street. Eden Prairie says it is illegal to throw your snow onto the street.
  • Clear the sidewalk in front of your home. The city asks residents to clear sidewalks and curb ramps to their full width. On most streets it is best to wait until the plow has been by, since plowed snow can land back on the walk.
  • Dig out hydrants and mailboxes. It helps fire crews and your mail carrier.
  • Watch for snow emergencies. When one is declared, cars need to stay off city streets until noon the next day so crews can clear curb to curb.

If a city plow blade hits a properly installed mailbox, the city takes responsibility. Damage from heavy snow coming off the plow is the homeowner’s, so a sturdy post is worth having.

Inside the house

Not everything happens outside. In 2027 we are adding home cleaning, handyman work, and painting through licensed, insured partners that we schedule, manage, and guarantee. Handyman work and painting start in May 2027, and cleaning starts in July 2027.

How we help Eden Prairie homeowners

Our own crews handle lawn care, power washing, window and gutter cleaning, snow removal, and holiday lighting. You can book any of them on their own, with a free walk-through and a written, flat-rate quote.

If you would rather hand off the whole year, our membership plans bundle weekly lawn care, spring and fall cleanups, aeration, and snow plowing, with priority scheduling and savings on everything else. Premium and Elite add windows, gutters, a house wash, and handyman hours.

We are booking now for the 2027 season. Get a free quote, or call or text us at (612) 977-3662.
